Product Description:

Banaspen Nu™ is an analgesic, anti-inflammatory ​​and antipyretic with an anti-endotoxin effect recommended for use in horses and dogs to alleviate inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders. It is also recommended for the alleviation of visceral pain associated with colic in horses. Banaspen Nu™ has the most quantity of flunixin meglumine in its formula.

How It Works:

Flunixin meglumine is a potent, non-narcotic, nonsteroidal, analgesic agent with anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activity.

Horse: Flunixin is four times as potent on an mg-per-mg basis as phenylbutazone as measured by the reduction in lameness and swelling in the horse. Plasma half-life of 1.6-2.5 hours, effects can persist for up to 30 hours, with maximal effects occurring between 2 and 16 hours. This is likely due to the accumulation of the drug at inflammatory foci. Flunixin is primarily eliminated by the kidneys.

Indications:  

For use by or under the direction of a registered veterinarian for:

• Alleviation of inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders in the horse and dogs.
• It is also recommended for the alleviation of visceral pain associated with colic in the horse.

Dosage and Administration:

Horse: Administer 5.5 ml-12 ml (1 – 2.2 mg/kg) by IV for 450 kg animals every 8 – 12 hours, and repeated for up to 5 days by a licensed Veterinarian.

Intravenous administration is recommended for prompt relief.

Dog: Administer 1 – 2 mg/kg by IV, daily for up to 3 days by a licensed Veterinarian.
