What is Panacea Gold +HA Nu
Product Description:
Panacea Gold+HA NUTM is an all-in-one product to support the function and recovery of tendons & joints by acting as a building block for connective tissue, cushioning joints, and maintaining a normal thickness of the fluids that sit between and cushion the joints; Also helps to cartilage growth.
Panacea Gold+HA NUTM is a supplement that consists of concentrated anti-inflammatory and stimulant of cartilage synthesis agent which aids equine osteoarthritis management and is a choice against arthritis and works very well in horses. Overall, both lab research and the owner’s testimonials indicate that Panacea Gold+HA NUTM does diminish joint inflammation and improve performance.
Active Ingredient:
Chondroitin sulfate sodium dihydrate salt (PSGAG) ……………………………… 55 mg/ml
Hyaluronic Acid ………………………………………………………………………………………. 2.5 mg/ml
Panacea Gold+HA NUTM is a new and unique formulation by combining two products into one very potent formula that offers two important GAGs to many connective tissues & cartilage matrix in the equine to the restoration of normal synovial fluid hyaluronate and repair or replacement of GAGs and other cartilage matrix components.
Anti-inflammatory Activity:
In conclusion, GAGs have widespread functions within the body. They play a crucial role in the cell signaling process, including regulation of cell growth, proliferation, promotion of cell adhesion, anticoagulation, and wound repair.
In laboratory tests, GAGs showed anti-inflammatory properties and even appeared to help cartilage regeneration. These come from the high polarity and hydrophilic GAGs, which make them useful to the body as a lubricant or as a shock absorber as well.
The pain-relieving properties of chondroitin sulfate in OA relate to its anti-inflammatory properties that cause attenuation of the nuclear factor-kappa-B (NF-kappa-B) pathway that is overactive in OA.
Indications:
For use by or under the direction of a registered veterinarian in:
- Non-infectious inflammatory joint problem.
- Traumatic arthritis.
- Reduce the swelling and inflammation associated with joint disease to improve lameness.

Chondroitin sulfate is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) composed of a chain of alternating sugars (N-acetylgalactosamine and glucuronic acid) and made from shark cartilage. The principal GAG in PSGAG is chondroitin sulfate. It is a chemical found in human and animal cartilage and soft connective tissue and is usually found attached to proteins as part of a proteoglycan. A chondroitin chain can have over 100 individual sugars, each of which can be sulfated in variable positions and quantities. Chondroitin sulfate is an important structural component of cartilage and soft tissues, and provides much of its resistance to compression. Along with Hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate will slow cartilage breakdown associated with osteoarthritis and even stimulate cartilage growth. Also, early laboratory studies results show that it also seems to work as an anti-inflammatory and reduces pain.
Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium hyaluronate), which is one of the main components of the articular cartilage and synovial fluid, acts as lubricant and buffer, and as a restorer of the extracellular matrix and the fluid of the articular surfaces, protecting them from the impacts; it modulates several cellular functions by reducing the response to inflammation and pain.
How It Works:
During the past 20 years, medical therapy for non-septic equine joint diseases and injuries has been greatly enhanced by the use of drugs classified as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). These compounds have allowed us to direct our therapies toward the underlying pathology of equine joint disease and in many cases extend the useful careers of athletic horses. It is important veterinarians and horse owners understand that all GAG products are not equal; And what are GAGs?
Glycosaminoglycans are polysaccharides made up of repeating disaccharide units and are an important component of many connective tissues including tissues in the equine joint.
The most important GAGs in the equine joint are Hyaluronic Acid, Chondroitin sulfate, and keratin sulfate.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a non-sulfated GAG that is produced by cells in the synovial membrane and released into the synovial fluid. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a non-sulfated GAG that is produced by cells in the synovial membrane and released into the synovial fluid. Here these long-chain molecules function as the barrier lubricant of the synovial membrane and joint capsule and help to form the synovial barrier. This barrier helps keep cells and large molecules out of the synovial fluid. The health of a joint is dependent on normal synovial fluid HA content. HA is also said to be a component of articular cartilage lubrication at low loads. HA is also a critical component of proteoglycan complexes. A molecule of HA forms the “backbone” of the large proteoglycan complexes.
Chondroitin sulfate (PSGAG) is a sulfated GAGs and the principal GAG in PSGAG and are also important components of the proteoglycan complexes in the articular cartilage matrix. Sidechains of these GAGs are attached to a protein core to form a large molecular aggregate. The negative charges from carboxyl and sulfate radicals cause these side chains to repel each other. Water is drawn into the spaces between the GAG side chains. This arrangement contributes to the ability of cartilage to distribute forces acting upon it and allows cartilage to change shape and comply with loads then resume its resting shape when loads are removed.
In joint inflammation and injury, these GAG components can undergo degradation due to direct injury and to the action of inflammatory mediators and catabolic enzymes.
Reduced concentration and a decrease in the mean molecular weight of synovial fluid HA are early effects of synovial inflammation. The proteoglycan complexes may also be damaged or degraded and diseased cartilage is often characterized by depletion of GAG content.
The restoration of normal synovial fluid hyaluronate and repair or replacement of GAGs and other cartilage matrix components should be one of the goals of therapy for equine joint injuries.
